You don't have to turn it loose (a death sentence) or find it another home. Read This Poem. Send it to everyone you know. We even added a "Tell a Friend" link to make it easier. ![]() Don't be a "Litter-Bug" .. Apr/May We adopted out Abby on 3/23 and found out that she, obviously, was pregnant when we got her. about a week or so after she "went home" she birthed a lovely family. One didn't make it, but seven are "growing like weeds" in the care of the adoptive (now also a "baby foster") family. Marion's story shows how far people will go to "clear their conscience". The girl that brought her in said she had "found the bunny on the street". We thought the girl had exhibited such kindness when she told us she'd taken her to the vet to for a checkup - and "she was just fine, but I've got no place to keep her." Well, we know the vet she took her to and they'd certainly be able to determine a pregnancy. She probably had taken her pet to the vet, found out she was pregnant and rather than admit her lack of responsibility ... concocted her "on the street" story. Anyway, thinking she was simply a healthy bunny, we adopted Marion out on 4/10 to a loving family of one of our volunteers. She was almost a twin of their one bunny and a wonderful match. She birthed only four babies (one malformed and one died) two days later. The adopters were concerned over the kits, so we took mom and the kids back with us. Mother and babies are doing fine. ![]() Mother's Day - 2003 To all you moms, of course. But I want to bring special note to Angel for being the wonderful wife to me and especially the wonderful Mother she is to all our "kids". Our human kids are all gone, but our four-legged kids are all in need of an "angel" like our Angel. Thanks is never enough, but ... ![]() Victoria is truly a one-of-a-kind momma. We got her on 4/07 and she birthed seven babies on 4/12. Her malnourishment showed through and only two of the seven (Gemini and Mary) lived. That's only part of the story, though. We got "Halli" in the evening of 4/27. She was found in a horse stall with injuries to her ear and foot. The injuries were secondary to the fact that this, obviously, was still a nursing kit! We did what we could to get some KMR in her, but she was not taking enough to keep her alive - especially with injuries, as well. We had nothing to lose, but the baby, so we spent probably an hour trying to make this baby acceptable to Victoria since she was nursing her two. We left them in God's hands and could only wait 'til morning to see if Halli was saved or killed by Victoria. ![]() click for larger image Well, above is a picture - through the wires for less disturbance - of the three "roly-polies" nursing with their little feet fanning the air. Victoria has been as much a mother to Halli (short for hallelujah) as her own. We're so proud of her - and let her know often. ![]() |
