Year-End Promises

Our first promise was unexpected ...

Promise in a playpen

We named her Promise because of her far better future. We didn't think about her "place in the rotation", but it turns out she was our last inbound bunny of 2003. She came to us, we believe, to remind us of our mission.

This little girl was found in a park - obviously "dumped" by a careless (could care-less) pet owner. We have no way of knowing if her injuries were before (heartless) or after she was dropped (just as bad, eh?), but she was found with injuries that indicate a dog attack.

She was bereft of almost any fur from the waist down (with accompanying yanked fur injuries) and was missing most of her left hind foot - sacrificed to getting away, no doubt!

The man that found her took her in and began salving her hindquarters while hoping for the best ... Well, the little girl showed "promise". After almost two months of care, her wounds have healed and she gets around fine.

This was a foster family in the truest sense of the word. He and his wife could not keep Promise permanently, but they did keep her until she was well.

Except for missing part of her foot (you wouldn't notice unless you look) and a slight variation of tint in the "new fur" area, Promise promises to live a long and happy life.

Our next promise is to you.

We promise even a better level of care for those animals that come to us.

We promise to rededicate ourselves to making their lives better than they were.

We promise to help them by whatever means necessary - with no thought "profit".

We promise to cry when they hurt.

We promise to enjoy their play.

We promise to continue to seek and find caring, loving "forever homes" for these that deserve no less.

We promise an even stronger effort toward adoption vs purchase.

We promise to educate every chance we get.

We promise that, if you will help us, your help will not be in vain.
