Where Does The Time Go ?

February 12th, 2007

I was not entirely correct when I said that the BunnyHutch would make it easier to keep you posted on “late breaking new” around these parts.

Mechanically, yes, it’s easier … but one must still sit down and type !!

.. And Then There Are Those …

September 3rd, 2006

.. And then there are those that don’t feel comfortable lying to us — so they just drop the poor bunnies at the doorstep (Aster, et al) or, better yet, don’t even try to find a cardboard box and simply throw them over the fence.

Such was the case with little Marylyn.  I was making my “evening rounds” to check the kids, adjust cooler settings, etc, etc and I noticed the light on in the garage.

Ok … I’m Gonna Tell Ya One More Time …

August 30th, 2006

Monsoon's FaceLook at the picture of sweet little Monsoon.  He looks just like any other cute little bunny, eh?  Well, he certainly does to anyone that didn’t pay attention to him. Poor little Monsoon is a textbook example of neglect!

It’s more than obvious that this little guy was simply fed and left alone.   From the story we got - and the way it was delivered - these folks that “found” him were just letting him run around some bit of the back yard in the summer heat.

What’s Truth Got to do With It?

August 25th, 2006

I mentioned Monsoon earlier … The gal calls and says, “My husband found this bunny …”.  Yeah, right.  It’s amazing how many people can’t find it to tell the truth.  Correct me if I’m wrong, but lying doesn’t change the truth, does it?

Monsoon [our name], she said, was staying out under the barbecue grill because “we don’t have anyplace to keep him” and she “also noticed” that he had a long tooth.  “Maybe the people that turned him loose did so because of that”, she said.

Slowly Catching Up …

August 22nd, 2006

There are many times when we feel like it’s one step forward then two steps back.  Put another way, I’m sure you know the old phrase, “when it rains, it pours”.

There for a while, we were beginning to believe that we’d never get ahead of the “bunny boom”.  Well, remember we told you about baby Ivory having babies, herself?  We’re about ready to get the babies fixed so they can get homes, too.

You’re Not A Cat Rescue?

August 21st, 2006

In a word, … No.

This area of our effort is the East Valley Bunny Rescue’s
Feline E-List Program.

We have chosen to work with the Apache Junction Animal Control (AJAC) office in an effort to keep cats and kittens from being euthanized simply to make room for more cats.

Well, Now We Know

August 20th, 2006

Through all the Adoption Events, through all the years, we’ve seen other rescues get more dog and cat adoptions than we will ever have (at least in the near future) with rabbits.  We wondered .. Why?

The rabbit adoptions are doing as well or better than ever, but our Feline E-List Program has blown the roof off any expectations we could have had.

Cute Picture .. Ugly Problem

Stork With More BunniesYou’ve read about the Wannabee breeder?

Let’s talk about the truest depiction of the Backyard Breeder.

Yet ANOTHER “breeder” family brought us their refuse. They had simply let bunnies run loose in their back yard and kept the 4-H and FFA well stocked with rabbits - cute little mini lops.

They brought nine of them to us because their market ran dry along with the fact that they didn’t want to spay or neuter to control their population.

Irresponsible Pet Owners Seem To Breed Like Rabbits

February 27th, 2006

newsheadtn1.jpg Princess Leah came back to us on February 18.  We thank God she did come back - we’ve still got her under observation.  But 02/18 is only 49 days into the new year, yet she was the 54th bunny we’ve received since the first of the year.

You do the math.

Another Do-Gooder Does Us Harm

February 22nd, 2006

If it’s not “wannabee” breeders, it’s HOARDERS.

The hoarder mentality is a complete study on it’s own .. you should “Google” it.

The very short definition of the hoarder is “one that feels that no one else can care for these animals as well as I can.” They take on so many bunnies (cats, dogs, etc) that they ultimately can’t give even basic care to any of them.
