Topics of This Page: Why Pick-A-Pair? The List The Incentive WHY PICK-A-PAIR? Wild rabbits are not particularly social animals. The reason you see them at a particular location in any number is that the place is relatively "predator-free" and food is ample. The wild rabbits seem to be a "herd" at times because there is strength in numbers -- the odds are better if a predator attacks. Domestic bunnies, on the other hand, are more socially oriented. After all, only their "freedom" has been taken away - not their desire to play, or their curiosity, or their energy. They have a need to interact with another animal since they can no longer satisfy the "wild urges" they experience. We think of pets as "companion animals" - but -A bunny's "companion" can be another human or even some other species. It follows that, since we humans are not going to be able to interact with a bunny "whenever it wants", another bunny would be a natural and successful companion. If given the proper circumstance, domestic bunnies as pairs do actually "mate" or "bond" to each other. The List The "pairs list" should be used in conjunction with our Bunny List. See who you like, then see if he or she has a "Room-Mate". HINT: Click one of the "List Link"s below, then open the "Bunny List" without closing the list window that popped up. You can click back and forth to compare notes. NOTE: If you do not find "your bunny" on this pairs list, it is not paired. We can (and most certainly will) pair a single with another single, if you agree with us about the "buddy system" - at the regular single adoption rate for each bunny. Our pairs list is a list of all pairs of bunnies at our shelter. They have proven that they get along well together. Please note that while some bunnies may be "un-paired" and adopted as singles, we ask that you not see the pairs list in that light. A good number of pairs are actually bonded and must be adopted as such. The Incentive We know, that if you are considering adopting a pair to satisfy the social needs of the bunnies, your heart's in the right place. We would like to help in the only way we can. Our Pick-A-Pair adoption fee is only $125. At the risk of sounding like a salesman, that is a reduction of $25 off the regular adoption fee! You know ... that's the adoption fee for a single animal at some shelters - less than most! Remember ... You like friends - so does your bunny. |
